As European Tour golfers Jordan Smith and Eddie Pepperell commence round 1 of their Gran Canaria Lopesan campaigns and PGA Tour player Tom Lewis plays his first round of the Zurich Classic on the PGA Tour, I sit once more with a European Tour lanyard around my neck. Life feels like it is on the way back to some form of normality.
Rob will work with European Tour Winner Callum, who is currently ranked 155th in the Official World Golf Rankings, to develop his fitness with the aim of driving further competitive success in 2021.
My core responsibility to my clients is to develop and maintain their fitness, health and wellbeing to deal with the rigours of competitive golf. It is not just about getting them in great shape in the gym to support and develop their technical game, but also about ensuring they are fit to do their job.
One of the biggest factors impacting a golfer’s career in my experience is injury. Yet, unless a golf injury is traumatic and visual, such as Tony Finau’s ankle injury at the Masters; or leads to a legend such as Tiger Woods missing a Major, then media coverage tends to be limited to a side note to a withdrawal or as part of a discussion of a possible reason for poor play.
